College Intern Summer 2026 - Public/Community Health & Wellness (Hybrid in Troy, MI) - Health Alliance Plan
Health Alliance Plan (HAP) is offering a Summer 2026 internship that provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in enhancing the health and well-being of communities. Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends, healthcare policies, and emerging technologies. Analyze data and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making processes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of projects. Contribute innovative ideas and support the execution of initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience
Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of healthcare-related data. Ensure data accuracy and integrity, utilizing appropriate software tools and methodologies
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting with customer support activities. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with internal and external stakeholders
Identify opportunities for process optimization and propose innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance productivity. Assist in the implementation of approved process improvement initiatives
Create and maintain accurate documentation, including policies, procedures, and project-related materials. Generate regular reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate project progress and outcomes
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to support a positive and inclusive work environment. Contribute actively to team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
Create flyers and other promotional materials for worksite wellness clients and/or community events
Provide outstanding customer service to clients and community organizations
Give presentations regarding HAP wellness offerings and assist clients in building their worksite wellness programs
Develop and implement customized corporate wellness programs such as on-site health education presentations, health education videos, challenges, programs, health fairs, etc
Plan, prepare, and attend community events sponsored by HAP and fundraising initiatives
Support development of health insurance Request For Proposal (RFP) responses, including drafting, editing, and coordinating content across medical, pharmacy, and network offerings
Support in editing, proofreading and utilization of AI platforms to ensure singular voice across collaborative multi-disciplinary sales efforts, collateral documentation and presentations
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited 4-year undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field
Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a desire to learn and grow
Knowledge or interest in healthcare, health insurance, or managed care is a plus
Michigan resident
Preferred
This position is best suited for a student pursuing a degree in Public/Community Health, Health Administration
Experience with community event development and involvement preferred
Comfort level with sales related activities including presentation development and public speaking required
