Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern

The Environmental Health and Safety Intern will support EHS specialists in projects related to equipment safety, chemical safety, and occupational ergonomics, while also conducting safety audits and promoting safety procedures among employees.

Responsibilities
Conduct risk assessments such as job hazard assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and equipment safety assessments
Support environmental programs such as air permitting compliance and stormwater compliance
Ability to develop and maintain key project metrics and assure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate policies
Deliver trainings/safety tailgates on EHS topics
Educate and oversee employees on health and safety procedures and regulations
Always ensure the company is prepared to submit all relevant health and safety documents
Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials and supplies
Qualification
Required
Ability to develop and maintain key project metrics and assure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate policies
Knowledge in local, state level, national and international laws and regulations related to protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees
Current enrollment in an Environmental Studies, Industrial Safety, Public Health, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or Safety Engineering degree-seeking program at the rising junior/senior Bachelor's level or Master's level
Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall
Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June

Strong written and oral communication skills
Administrative and record keeping skills
Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including action oriented, focused urgency and driving for results
Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize and schedule work to meet business needs
Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with others in team environment; effective interactions in cross department teams
Computer literacy (PC, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Outlook, Smartsheets)
Detail orientated, with emphasis on accuracy and completeness
