Fire Protection Engineer (Forensic Engineering)

S-E-A is seeking a passionate Fire Protection Engineer to join their team of subject matter experts in forensic engineering. The role involves investigating fires, conducting forensic analyses, and providing technical findings to clients, while also developing and maintaining client relationships.

Responsibilities

Investigate commercial and residential fires that may involve mechanical systems or fire protection systems
Conduct field investigations and perform forensic engineering & failure/accident analysis on incidents involving fires, fire protection systems, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, boilers, gas systems, plumbing systems, etc
Conduct unbiased investigations for various clients
Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in written reports
Responsible for retention and development of client relationships
Prepare and submit written reports, documenting findings and results when requested
Explain to clients, in layman's terms, your investigation, analysis and findings
Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-paid educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
Develop and maintain client relations
Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
Regular and predictable presence at work

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering required
P. E. registration or ability to obtain
CFI certification or ability to obtain
Fire Investigation experience or desire to learn a must
Knowledge of fire protection systems, gas systems, sprinkler systems and plumbing
Minimum of seven (7) years of post-academic engineering experience
Forensic, design or testing experience/exposure
Exceptional interpersonal, communication and writing skills
Ability to travel 25% of the time
Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to drive in all conditions
Ability to fly on airplanes
Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
