Senior Assistant Counsel - Corporate Services
Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Senior Assistant Counsel for Corporate Services to provide a wide range of legal services focused on corporate, transactional, and healthcare regulatory matters. The role requires initiative and the ability to work independently while also collaborating within the Legal & Risk Services Department.

Responsibilities
Review and negotiate complex contracts, including physician agreements, strategic vendor relationships, and payor arrangements
Lead and coordinate high-value transactions, including physician practice acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic initiatives
Oversee legal aspects of real estate matters
Understand and advise on implications of regulatory compliance, including fraud and abuse, billing compliance, HIPAA, Stark Law, and antitrust matters
Assist with government investigations and regulatory filings, including certificates of need
Provide proactive guidance to managers and senior leadership on policies and procedures
Lead department-wide initiatives, including policy standardization, SOP development, and workflow optimization
Mentor and coach junior attorneys, providing feedback, training, and professional development opportunities to elevate team performance
Exercise strong judgement and independent decision-making to reduce reliance on senior and outside counsel
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate required
At least five-seven years of experience in corporate health care practice; experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Current admission to the Connecticut Bar (as Authorized House Counsel or otherwise) or demonstrated eligibility for admission (through waiver or registration) and successful admission within six (6) months of hire
Demonstrated extraordinary ability to perform all aspects of their functions
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including timely and effective advice to leadership, executives, and other relevant stakeholders
Ability to independently conduct legal research and provide legal advice
Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment
Autonomously manages a high volume and complex workload within subject matter areas of expertise
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer services skills
Ability to manage stressful situations with a calm demeanor and be flexible
Capable of exercising good judgment and decision-making skills
Demonstrated ability to issue spot and escalate issues as identified
Interacts with other Legal & Risk Services Department personnel to ensure that legal services are provided to YNHH in a timely, practical, and cost effective manner consistent with the mission and values of the organization
Demonstrates a spirit of teamwork, offering positive and constructive ideas, encouragement, and support to other members of the Legal & Risk Services Department
Able to effectively supervise the development and oversee work product of the Department's more junior professional staff
Proactively seeks professional growth opportunities
