Special Programs Coordinator

The Special Programs Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and ensuring compliance for specialized student programs, including Special Education and English Learners, across the district.

Responsibilities
Create and foster a culture of collaboration and reflective learning among colleagues within the virtual workplace
Helps articulate the school's mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively to achieve desired results
Maintain compliance and supervise the implementation of the Special Education program. Follow federal and state guidelines. Provide training and implementation of programming to meet the needs of each individual special ed student
Diagnostic assessments, after parent approval, to determine student qualification for special ed services
Ensures related services are received as prescribed by the students' IEP (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, Mobility and Rehab services)
Ensures alignment between ARD and instruction in classroom
Ensures alignment between ARD and support services provided, reviews effectiveness
Frequently runs reports and monitors IEP software program that houses ARDs
Assigns students to the correct standardized test
Makes sure that all Transfer ARDS are scheduled and occur in a timely fashion according to state law
Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to examine special education program effectiveness
Collaborate with campus administrators and instructional staff to implement and support effective programs and student interventions
Coordinate ARD/IEP meetings, 504 meetings, and LPAC processes across campuses
Supervise and evaluate staff working within special programs (e.g., diagnosticians, ESL coordinators, GT teachers)
Facilitate professional development and training for staff on special populations and compliance requirements
Develop, analyze, and report on data related to student performance, program effectiveness, and compliance
Serve as the district liaison as assigned during audits, monitoring visits, or compliance reviews
Communicate effectively with families, staff, and community stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
Valid teaching certificate with special education certificate
At least 3 years special education teaching experience
Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, TEKS, LPAC, and other relevant statutes and guidance
Preferred
Valid Texas Masters in Education, Special Education, Educational Administration, or related field
Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency
Experience using TEA data systems (e.g., TSDS, PEIMS, SPED reporting systems)
