Postdoctoral Scholar-Fixed Term

Michigan State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar for a 12-month appointment in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences. The successful candidate will study environmental processes and impacts of contaminants in ecosystems using computational methods and will engage in both independent and collaborative research efforts.

Responsibilities

Study on physical, chemical, and biological processes of environmental pollutants including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), and metals in ecosystems and their ecological and evolutionary impacts on organisms
Research duties include, but not limited to, computation and modeling, preparation of reports, manuscripts, and proposals, and presentation of research at scientific meetings
Some laboratory experiments will be also necessary to complement the computational work
Help supervise graduate and undergraduate students, manage lab activities, and engage collaborators, stakeholders, and relevant communities

Required

A Ph.D. in soil science, environmental science, physics, chemistry, biology, or a related discipline is required
Demonstrated ability to design scientific studies to test hypothesis
