Assistant Director, Recruitment
Florida State University is one of the nation's elite research universities, and they are seeking an Assistant Director of Recruitment for their Office of Admissions. Responsibilities
Responsible for the management, administration, planning and coordination of all recruitment activities for the Office of Admissions
Assists with the planning and coordination of special events including but not limited to counselor workshops and prospective student events
Assists in the evaluation of first-year applications
Responsible for managing, developing, and overseeing the daily functions of recruitment, managing the admission counselors and travels throughout Florida and out of state
Continually evaluates admissions recruitment effectiveness and efficiencies and may introduce procedural changes based on needs
Collaborates with senior leadership to introduce enhancements
Coordinates recruiting efforts with Seminole Clubs and Alumni Chapters
Provides suggestions to improve university recruitment, off campus recruitment events, and ways to improve relationships with school counselors
Shares in the training, planning and coordination of staff recruitment schedules and activities
Assists with the evaluation of first-year applications for admission to the University
Assists local high schools and prospective students with admission application submissions to help increase application completion rates
Responsible for the implementation of University policies and procedures as they relate to first-year Admissions
Assists with the evaluation and communication of incomplete first-year applications
Recruits first-year students to the University
Due to travel needs, position requires operation of a motor vehicle
Participates in special events hosted by the Office of Admissions such as prospective student events and counselor workshops as needed
Counsels prospective students and represents the University at sponsored events pertaining to Admissions and provides information about the University and its programs
Frequent contact with prospective students, applicants and their parents, the general public, officials, and personnel associated with colleges/community colleges/universities, and high school counselors
Provides interpretation of policies and procedures to aforementioned entities
Some contact with principals and teachers
Attends high profile recruitment events such as college admission panels/workshops offered by high schools, which provide guidance about the college admissions process and discusses how admissions decisions are determined by FSU and other universities
Must be familiar with State University System (SUS) institutions and SUS requirements
Contributes to long-range planning
Reviews and evaluates policies and procedures, making suggestions and recommendations to senior leadership
Shares in the compilation and analysis of recruitment data for recommendations and projections
Shares in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and staffing in the Office of Admissions
Provide assistance to other sections during peak times in support of the goals of the Office of Admissions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and eight years of related experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire
Preferred
A Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of complimentary experience preferred
Experience organizing and coordinating multiple events simultaneously
Experience managing a remote team
Experience working with various populations, reviewing transcripts, and interpreting admissions documents is preferred
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously
Experience counseling and/or providing expertise and advice
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software
Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Candidates with a strong sense of initiative and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently are preferred
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
