Director of Finance
Xavier College Preparatory is seeking a Director of Finance to oversee and execute all aspects of the school's financial management and accounting functions. The role involves developing a sustainable financial strategy to ensure fiscal stability and operational vitality while providing guidance to various stakeholders on financial matters.

Responsibilities
Provide guidance to the Principal, Administrators, Department Heads, and various committees of the School on all matters related to finance, including financial planning, budgeting, risk management, internal control, cash flow, financial priorities, and policy matters
Liaison to the School Finance Committee, bank, credit card processors, insurance carriers, and the diocesan finance office. Seek guidance and take direction from the diocesan finance office
Manage the Finance Office, whose functions include: Collect and record all payments of tuition, scholarships, and general school revenue
Record and report income and expenses for departments (athletics, bookstore, etc.)
Provide timely reports to department leaders
Make bank deposits in a timely manner
Maintain the Tuition Accounts Receivable system
Petty cash; disbursements, recording, reconciliation, replenishment
Purchasing/Accounts Payable: review all requisitions and prepare purchase orders, review and code invoices, and prepare checks for signature
Supervise all finance department personnel
Evaluate department personnel on a yearly basis
Process payroll
Prepare monthly reconciliations of checking, payroll, and balance sheet accounts
Prepare quarterly investment account reconciliations and track investment performance. As needed and available, request funding for school scholarships and other funding needs
Prepare monthly manual journal entries to prepare the monthly financial statements
Perform an annual analysis of tuition rates and advise the principal on establishing annual tuition and fee rates that align with the school's mission
Budget: Coordinate preparation and revisions of the annual budget in conjunction with the School Finance Committee
Present annual budget to the diocesan School Board Finance Committee for approval
Monitor budget compliance
Report monthly to the Principal and Department Heads on performance
Calculate annual contract amounts for all administrators, teachers, and coaches
Ability to negotiate debt financing, general reporting, and covenant reporting
Coordinate the annual audit of statements along with the diocesan-approved accounting firm
Serve as the school’s liaison throughout the process
Prepare and provide all documentation upon request from the auditors
Oversee the school’s human resources efforts and coordinate the financial onboarding of new employees
Perform any job-related tasks necessary to ensure smooth operations
Performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Principal
Qualification
Required
Must be able to serve a Roman Catholic community
Degree in accounting, finance, or business
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory position
Excellent skills with Microsoft product offerings: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to learn a state-of-the-art accounting system and learn the recently replaced legacy system for research
Critical thinker who effectively analyzes and collaborates to find creative solutions to problems the organization faces
Strong financial acumen to maintain the organization's healthy fiscal status and advance the mission of the organization through effective budgeting
Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Understanding and commitment to the school's and the diocese's mission
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel when necessary in order to advance the mission
Preferred
Preference given to Catholic candidates
CPA or MBA preferred
