PARKING CONTROL CHECKER I (NON-CAREER)
The City of Long Beach is committed to maintaining and enhancing the city’s infrastructure and environment. They are seeking a Parking Control Checker I to patrol assigned areas, enforce parking regulations, and provide public information regarding parking statutes and ordinances.
Association
Responsibilities
In accordance with applicable provisions of the California Vehicle Code, issues notices of violation of statues of the State of California, ordinances of the City of Long Beach, and regulations issued relating to the parking or standing of vehicles
Travels with street sweeping personnel and cites those vehicles parked in excess of posted street sweeping signs, parking signs, and restricted zones
Marks tires of vehicles parked in time zones and cites those vehicles parked in excess of posted time limits
Detects and reports inoperative parking meters
Reports unenforceable curbs and defaced signs
Enforces permit parking in City lots and City streets
May appear in court to testify when applicable
Provides information to the public regarding statutes and ordinances relating to parking and other matters
Performs other duties as required
Qualification
Required
A minimum of one year of progressively responsible paid full-time equivalent experience providing service and assistance to the public
Willingness to work overtime, weekend and/or holiday hours
A valid driver's license is required and must be submitted to the hiring department at the time of the selection
Preferred
Bilingual skills (Spanish, Khmer and/or Tagalog) are desirable for positions interacting with the public
