Director of Family Caregiver Support
Council on Aging in Union County is seeking a Director of Family Caregiver Support to lead their Family Caregiver Support Program and Next Door Clubhouse Group Respite Program. The role involves ensuring high-quality services for family caregivers and older adults, focusing on dementia-specific care, community education, and program compliance.
Responsibilities
Lead and carry out the goals and objectives of the Family Caregiver Support Program
Oversee the Next Door Group Respite Clubhouse Program, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable standards
Recruit, assess, and enroll participants for the Next Door Group Respite Clubhouse Program
Ensure programs are responsive, person-centered, and aligned with best practices in caregiver and dementia care
Identify family caregivers and older adults who need supportive services to remain safe and independent at home
Provide or coordinate caregiver support services, including support groups, workshops, education, and training programs
Assist caregivers in accessing services and navigating available resources
Introduce caregivers to respite care options, including emergency and intermittent respite vouchers
Promote the Next Door Group Respite Clubhouse Program
Utilize supplemental services and community resources to enhance and complement caregiver support
Conduct outreach to promote family caregiver support services and group respite programs
Participate in community events such as expos, speaking engagements, networking opportunities, and fundraisers, as assigned
Serve as a liaison and advocate within community organizations and professional networks
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant client files and program records for accountability and reporting purposes
Develop, monitor, and manage the Family Caregiver Support Program budget, ensuring adherence to funding requirements and procedures
Contribute to program reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts
Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of Council on Aging in Union County
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field such as social work, psychology, gerontology, human services, or a related discipline
Experience working with family caregivers, particularly those caring for individuals with dementia or chronic illnesses
Demonstrated ability to work compassionately and effectively with older adults and their family members
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, volunteers, partners, and the general public
Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage confidential information, work independently, and manage competing priorities
