Staff Accountant

Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable, including vendor and bank setup, invoice entry, and payment processing
Prepare and file 1099 reports in compliance with regulatory requirements
Perform credit card reconciliations to ensure accurate expense tracking
Process and reconcile freight expenses and related allocations
Prepare monthly expense allocations and accrual entries
Manage accounts receivable, including check deposits, payment application, aging review, and refunds
Process and reconcile ecommerce payments and refunds, ensuring accuracy across platforms
Assist with monthly budget-to-actual reporting
Collaborate with all departments to ensure adherence to accounting policies and timely resolution of questions
Work effectively with cross-functional departments (operations, sales, warehouse, customer service) to support accurate financial information and smooth workflows
Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned
Communicate with coworkers, management, vendors, and customers in a professional and courteous manner
Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries from vendors, internal departments, and customers related to AP, AR, and billing
Adhere to accounting policies, internal controls, company procedures, confidentiality rules, and regulatory requirements
Take ownership of assigned tasks, follows through to completion, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes
Qualification
Required
Ability to process financial data with a high level of precision, attention to detail, and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities through organizational and time-management skills
Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and reconcile accounts effectively with analytical thinking
Familiarity with ERP and accounting systems, and payment/merchant platforms (ecommerce tools, credit card systems)
Advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to troubleshoot issues using problem solving skills
Ability to take initiative and accountability
Focus on teamwork and collaboration
Bachelor's degree in accounting
2-3 years of accounts payable or receivable experience
Preferred
Microsoft Business Central experience preferred, but not necessary
