Penn Medicine Doylestown Health is seeking an Instrument Technician for their Sterile Processing department. The role involves performing decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, processing, and sterilization of surgical instruments and patient care equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, processing and sterilization of all surgical instrumentation, scopes, patient care equipment requiring sterilization, and supplies
Performing monitoring of the effectiveness of all sterilization processes according to Policies and Procedures and by following the AAMI, AORN, CDC, and OSHA guidelines
Demonstrates knowledge and technical skills in decontamination and processing of instruments, scopes, equipment, and supplies. (25%)
Demonstrates knowledge of surgical instruments and technical expertise in identification, care, and handling and inspection for proper working prior to sterilization. (25%)
Demonstrates knowledge and technical skills in operating sterilization equipment. (25%)
Demonstrates knowledge of Standard Precautions (15%)
Demonstrates positive team relationship and communication skills and contributes to create a cohesive and productive environment (10%)

Required

High School diploma or equivalent
If hired or transferred into position after 12/28/20, must pass an accredited program through National Commission for Certifying Agency, which is administered by one of the following agencies and must maintain or obtain (within 6 months of hire): Certified Endoscope Reprocessor -IAHCSMM OR Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor - CBSPD

Preferred

One year of experience preferred
Good communication, customer relationship skills a plus
Knowledge of instrument tracking system and/or use of computer
