Team Leader Clinical Research

The Hematology Clinical Research Team Leader will provide operational leadership and management of clinical research activities, ensuring the successful execution of trials while promoting high-quality research conduct and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of at least 5 clinical research coordinators/clinical research nurse(s) supporting hematology clinical trials across two campuses – Dallas and Plano
Assign studies and workloads based on complexity, acuity, and staff experience
Serve as backup on hematology study coordination efforts
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Support onboarding, training, competency assessment, and professional development of research staff
Oversee day-to-day operations of hematology clinical trials across Phase I–III (and Phase IV as applicable)
Ensure studies are conducted in accordance with protocol requirements, GCP, IRB policies, and institutional SOPs
Partner with physicians and investigators to support trial feasibility, activation, and enrollment strategies
Monitor enrollment performance, protocol adherence, and study timelines
Ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness for internal, sponsor, and FDA audits
Identify operational risks and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
Support data quality, source documentation standards, and timely query resolution
Participate in development and maintenance of SOPs and standardized workflows
Participate in audit readiness and audit/inspection/monitoring preparations and follow-up actions
Collaborate with research administration and leadership on staffing models, resource planning, and budgeting support
Track and report key performance metrics (e.g., enrollment, query response, deviations, etc.)
Contribute to program growth initiatives, including expansion of the hematology trial portfolio
Serve as a hematology research subject matter expert within the broader clinical research enterprise
Qualification
Required
At least 3 years' experience coordinating clinical trials
Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
CCRC or CCRP certification (or must obtain within 18 months of hire)
Preferred
Experience supervising people in a health care setting
Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience
Health care related license (Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist)
Strong leadership, coaching, and communication abilities
Flexible, approachable, supportive and positive mentality/awareness and management of self
High attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset
Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, including other senior and peer leaders
Proficiency with clinical trial management systems (CTMS), EDC, and regulatory platforms
Data-driven and process-improvement oriented
