The South Carolina Department of Transportation is committed to a diverse workforce, and they are seeking a Transportation Engineer Associate III to manage project funding and budgets. This role involves developing project schedules, assisting with administrative duties, and serving as a contact for public inquiries related to Traffic Safety projects.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Manages project funding and budgets, including expenditures for projects for compliance with budget through completion of construction, develops and manages project schedules, and recommends strategies and plans to ensure schedules are met
Assists with administrative duties relating to managing internal and consultant projects including preparing monthly updates, cost estimates, P2S requests, correspondences and other projects documents
Serves as contact for public inquiries related to Traffic Safety projects
Prepares correspondence to inform or answer questions and requests from citizens, government officials, meetings, etc
Assists in organizing and conducting public meetings
Assists in coordination and facilitation of project scoping meetings, field reviews, and other project meetings with essential personnel and outside entities
Assists in developing Highway Safety Improvement Safety project consultant contracts including project scopes, man-hour estimates, schedules and negotiations
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management
Four (4) years of engineering or construction management work experience
An approved acceptable equivalence
A valid motor vehicle operator's license
Ability to manage project funding and budgets
Ability to develop and manage project schedules
Ability to assist with administrative duties relating to managing internal and consultant projects
Ability to prepare monthly updates, cost estimates, P2S requests, correspondences and other project documents
Ability to serve as contact for public inquiries related to Traffic Safety projects
Ability to prepare correspondence to inform or answer questions and requests from citizens, government officials, meetings, etc
Ability to assist in organizing and conducting public meetings
Ability to assist in coordination and facilitation of project scoping meetings, field reviews, and other project meetings with essential personnel and outside entities
Ability to assist in developing Highway Safety Improvement Safety project consultant contracts including project scopes, man-hour estimates, schedules and negotiations
Ability to perform other related duties as assigned
Ability to meet physical demands including sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time
Ability to travel occasionally
Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling
Ability to walk for extended periods, tread rough terrain, work in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards
Ability to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations
