LEAD GENERAL ENGINEER

NAVWAR is seeking a Lead General Engineer to serve in the Engineering Division of the Engineering and Planning Department at the Trident Refit Facility in Bangor. The role involves providing technical advice, investigating technical problems, and overseeing maintenance and repair processes for Trident class submarines and related components.

Responsibilities

You will provide administrative and technical advice associated with identification, evaluation, and resolution of waterfront technical problems
You will investigate, analyze, and interpret numerous technical directives and documentation, as well as inspect and evaluate in-shop component conditions
You will assign, schedule, and track accomplishments of tasks by section personnel
You will provide input and recommendations relevant to life cycle maintenance and repair of TRIDENT class submarine, TRIPER, Radar Depot, and North West Optical Regional Repair Center (NWORRC) components
You will collect, evaluate, analyze, and distribute TRIDENT class submarine, TRIPER, Radar Depot, and North West Optical Regional Repair Center (NWORRC) engineering data
You will provide technical advice regarding quality and applicability of contractor deliverables
You will provide scheduling, processing, engineering analysis review, and reporting of Unrestricted Operations (URO) maintenance requirements in cognizant areas

This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer; identifying, assessing technical problems and providing advice in the design, construction, or in-service support of naval vessels
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree
To be acceptable, the program must lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering
