Responsibilities
Operate medium weight equipment and vehicles in the construction, repair, and maintenance of a variety of improvement projects on public roads, sewers, grounds, parks or other facilities
Demonstrate skills in the operation of medium weight equipment such as: small backhoe, mini-excavator, or boom mower
Complete a loading exercise utilizing a designated piece of equipment
Receive a passing score on skills test to be eligible for the position
Participate in a candidate evaluation that may take place in the form of a Past Performance Evaluation or an interview
Qualification
Required
A minimum of 18 months experience in the operation of equipment involved in a variety of construction, maintenance, or repair projects
At least 12 months in the operation of equipment equivalent to the City's classification of Maintenance Worker including operating dump trucks, rodder trucks, skid-steer loaders, flusher trucks, or other comparable trucks and/or front-end loaders plus individual must pass appropriate equipment operation skills test
Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) that would enable the driver to operate at minimum a class 'B' vehicle with airbrakes
In order to qualify for some assignments, candidates must possess endorsements such as tanker and/or a class 'A' license
