Responsibilities

Represent and advise state officers and agencies in the defense of state statutes or in affirmative litigation
Handle high-profile, consequential, and cutting-edge legal matters
Regularly appear and argue in state and federal courts throughout the State at all stages of litigation, at both the trial and appellate levels
Prepare titles and summaries for ballot measures and analyze proposed state legislation

Required

Highly qualified attorneys to practice in a dynamic and collegial environment
Ability to handle high-profile, consequential, and cutting-edge legal matters
Experience in federal and state constitutional challenges
Ability to represent and advise state officers and agencies
Experience in the defense of state statutes or in affirmative litigation
Ability to handle litigation against the federal government
Experience with a wide range of legal issues including constitutional law and statutory interpretation, administrative procedure, government operations, firearms and other public-safety laws, federal funding, elections, internet privacy, federalism, labor and union issues, housing reform, criminal justice reform, criminal information, state mandates, and other matters
Regular appearances and argument in state and federal courts throughout the State at all stages of litigation, at both the trial and appellate levels
Preparation of titles and summaries for ballot measures
Analysis of proposed state legislation
Ability to telework or come into the office as required
Availability for meetings and prompt response to emails and phone calls during regular business hours
