Accountant / Senior Accountant
QC Ware Corp. is a quantum computing software company dedicated to making quantum computing accessible to data scientists. They are hiring an Accountant / Senior Accountant to help run and scale core accounting operations while maintaining public-company standards, involving responsibilities in accounting and FP&A reporting.
Responsibilities
Own assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including preparing and posting journal entries and maintaining supporting schedules
Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations (rollforwards, tie-outs, variance explanations) with complete, audit-ready support
Apply strong U.S. GAAP judgment to routine and non-routine transactions; identify issues early and partner on solutions
Support external audits by responding to PBC requests, participating in walkthroughs, and maintaining high-quality documentation
Partner closely with the Operations team to improve upstream accuracy (coding, approvals, documentation) and ensure clean accounting outcomes
Maintain and improve accounting policies, process documentation, and close checklists to support scale and consistency
Drive process improvements to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and accelerate close (templates, automation, system/tool enhancements)
Thrive in a lean, high-ownership environment and step in where needed to support deadlines and business priorities
Maintain and update data inputs supporting revenue recognition under ASC 606
Own or support monthly management reporting (budget vs. actuals, variance analysis, key drivers)
Partner with leadership on forecast updates (headcount, opex, run-rate tracking; assumptions and inputs)
Maintain core operating dashboards and KPIs, ensuring alignment between accounting actuals and reporting views
Provide ad hoc analysis to support operating and strategic decisions
Own more complex areas end-to-end (estimates, unusual transactions, multi-entity/intercompany, as applicable)
Lead audit readiness for assigned processes and support remediation of findings
Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve close accuracy, timeliness, and operational handoffs
Review work and mentor team members as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
Progressive accounting experience in a public company environment (or supporting public company clients)
Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and close processes
Experience supporting external audits, including PBC preparation and walkthroughs
Experience supporting management reporting and budget vs. actuals analysis (depth varies by level)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across finance, operations, and leadership
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Experience supporting IPO readiness, public company transition, or similar scale environments
PCAOB audit and/or SOX exposure (documentation, execution, evidence, remediation support)
CPA (active or in progress)
Strong blend of Accounting and FP&A experience (forecasting, reporting packages, KPI dashboards)
Demonstrated success building process and structure in a small-team environment
Mix of public accounting and industry experience
Experience with modern accounting and finance tools, including QuickBooks Online, Brex, Salesforce, Stripe, and Google Workspace (G Suite), or comparable systems
