Responsibilities

You will stand at an assigned Entry Control Point (ECP) during shift hours, or perform security patrols in accordance with security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) per specific location requirements
You will assist the Branch Head and Division Head with setting shift schedules and updating SOPs
You will ensure general guardforce is properly carrying out the duties of each specific post as assigned during shifts
You will monitor and control access to restricted areas where there is a potential for significant breach of national security by enforcing special orders and implementing additional security checks or procedures in those areas
You will utilize Government computer systems to properly identify personnel in order to grant access to meetings, briefings, and trainings, and maintain all appropriate desk logs, journals, and logbooks

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing and leading uniformed/plain clothes security operations on a military installation, federal or state property, or for a large company, while also providing protection of personnel, facilities, sensitive information, and government/corporate assets; 2) Controlling access at Entry Control Points and restricted areas by carrying out inspections of credentials, vehicles, packages, and materials; 3) Enforcing SOPs, regulations, and/or Force Protection Conditions; 4) Responding to security incidents and emergencies using sound judgment; 5) Overseeing and inspecting guardforce performance, reviewing logs and reports for accuracy, and conducting on-the-job training; 6) Operating electronic security and alarm systems; and 7) Coordinating with supervisory officials and law enforcement to ensure mission-ready security operations
