Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, inspects, and evaluates work of subordinate employees
Trains and instructs subordinate employees in the use of tools and equipment utilized in cathodic protection and corrosion control
Participates in selection of personnel
Maintains work discipline and reports serious infractions
Requisitions and maintains an adequate inventory of materials and supplies used in cathodic protection
Enforces safety rules and other accident prevention measures utilized in natural gas construction and maintenance activities
Coordinates and inspects the work of contractors to insure compliance with regulatory rules and departmental procedures as pertains to the particular work being performed
Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements
Maintains operational records and makes reports
Coordinates work assignments with other operations
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in a related field
Two (2) years of cathodic protection experience related to gas systems, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity
Combination of education, training, and/or work experience equal to or higher than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources
Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks
Industry Standard certification in corrosion control practices and procedures (i.e. NACE)
Requires skill in the operation of computers and associated software
Knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, and procedures
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices used in the specific area of gas operations and cathodic protection
Knowledge of materials, equipment, techniques, and tools used in the specific area of gas operations and cathodic protection
Knowledge of safety hazards, safety measures to be observed, and safety regulations of the natural gas industry
Knowledge of Part 192, Federal Pipeline Safety Act, Chapter 25.12, Florida Statutes, OSHA, and other regulatory rules affecting the natural gas industry
Ability to plan, assign, and effectively supervise work of gas employees
Skilled in the use and care of pertinent tools and equipment used in cathodic protection
Ability to establish and maintain a system of records, which are both clear and concise
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports
Ability to interpret and explain City policies and departmental procedures to employees
Ability to estimate amounts of material and equipment required for a project
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public
