Lead CMM Programmer/Operator

Responsibilities

Lead CMM programming, setup, and operation activities (Zeiss preferred) to inspect complex mechanical and electronic components
Serve as the technical authority for CMM inspection strategy, including method selection, fixture approach, and inspection sequencing
Develop, modify, and approve Calypso programs based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements
Review and analyze inspection data; prepare and approve detailed reports on nonconformances, trends, and part compliance
Lead and support first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections in accordance with AS9100/ISO requirements
Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues and drive corrective actions
Mentor and provide technical guidance to CMM programmers/operators; support training and standardization of inspection practices
Own CMM equipment readiness, including calibration coordination, routine maintenance oversight, and troubleshooting
Participate in and lead root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes and metrology capability
Ensure inspection results and documentation are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal procedures and customer requirements

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
5+ years of experience as a CMM Programmer/Operator, including demonstrated technical leadership or mentoring experience
Advanced understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and ability to apply GD&T in inspection strategy development
Proven experience interpreting complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models
Ability to prioritize inspection activities, support production schedules, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or precision machining environments
Working knowledge of SPC, MSA, and other quality tools
Experience with portable CMMs, laser trackers, or Romer Arms
Experience with PC-DMIS or other metrology platforms in addition to Calypso
Knowledge of AS9100 and related quality management systems
Ability to maintain the designated security clearance level

Preferred

Technical degree or certification in metrology, manufacturing, or a related field
Hands-on experience with CMMs; strong proficiency in Zeiss CMMs and Calypso software
U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Security clearance
