Responsibilities

Accurately model transmission system topology including impedance and facility ratings for lines, generators, and transformers for Medium, High, and Extra High Voltages using AEP-internal modeling database and PSS-ODMS
Fulfill various system modeling related requests from Engineering and Operations personnel and submitted via ServiceNow ticketing system
Collaborate with others internal partners to establish ratings and configuration changes for planned systems changes
Participating in the planning and organization of project work activities
Perform activities related to NERC Compliance standards
Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET
Demonstrated experience reading and understanding transmission and generation system topology using PSS-ODMS, ASPEN One-liner and/or Siemens PSSE for Medium, High, and Extra High Voltages
Modeling transmission lines, transformers, and circuit breakers
Knowledge of inverter-based generation for both wind and Solar applications
Demonstrated experience of working with NERC Compliance Standards
Demonstrated experience with process improvement including process development, implementation, adherence, and training
Demonstrated experience comparing data from various sources, evaluating validity of data, and performing clean-up activities, as necessary

Preferred

Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred
A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree; however, engineering degrees will also be considered
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred
