Responsibilities
Provide work direction, training, and instruction to and evaluation of staff
Coordinate staff workflow and conduct workflow analysis
Gather, assemble, analyze and evaluate case facts and evidence, and adopt effective courses of action
Conduct child support staff training sessions
Obtain personal, financial, and other sensitive information through interviews
Effectively represent the department
Handle customer complaints
Keep accurate notes and records of activities
Read and understand legal codes and cases
Testify in court in a direct, clear, and concise manner
Operate computer equipment and computer databases and programs common to child support enforcement activities
Elicit information from hostile and/or uncooperative individuals
Qualification
Required
One year of full-time, paid experience in a county child support office conducting child support establishment and/or enforcement activities at a level equivalent to the County of Sacramento class of Child Support Officer at the full journey level
A valid California Driver License, Class C or higher, may be required at the time of appointment
Criminal History and Background Checks: The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 82-602, Personnel Policies and applicable federal and state laws
The County may also conduct a background check on the candidate prior to appointment to a position within this class
Preferred
Ability to communicate fluently in a language other than English
