Responsibilities

Develop and maintain high-fidelity thermal models using tools such as Thermal Desktop and SINDA/FLUINT
Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses for spacecraft components and integrated systems
Evaluate thermal performance under various mission phases, including launch, transit, lunar orbit, and quiescent modes
Support thermal verification activities, including test planning, data analysis, and model correlation
Collaborate with design teams to optimize thermal control strategies (e.g., insulation, heaters, radiators) and provide guidance on thermal considerations
Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and anomaly investigations
Document analysis results and present findings to internal stakeholders and NASA customers
Reviewing and providing feedback on NASA and vendor thermal designs to ensure compliance with requirements and best practices

Required

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
Experience with thermal analysis tools such as but not limited to Thermal Desktop, COMSOL, Ansys Fluent, or similar industry standard software
Proven experience in thermal analysis and design for aerospace systems
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines
Strong capability to assess and validate thermal designs for technical accuracy and compliance
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Preferred

BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of two (2) years of direct engineering experience
Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures
The ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines
Experience in the design, analysis, testing, certification, and operation of space PTCS systems and components, which may include but are not limited to multilayer insulation (MLI), thermal blankets, surface coatings, radiators, heat pipes, and other passive thermal hardware during pre-launch, flight, and post-landing phases
Experience with Thermal Desktop is preferred
Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process
