Civil Engineer
The US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking a Civil Engineer in their Mississippi Valley Division. The role involves developing an understanding of geotechnical engineering principles related to various projects and performing responsibilities assigned within the Geotechnical Branch.

Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for inspection, evaluation, and remedial repairs
Plan, develops, and administers an assigned portion of the District's Inspection
Plan and ensures coordination of numerous phases of design work, including plans and technical specifications
Develop funding programs for the design and rehabilitation of instrumentation, design of remedial measures and repair, formal and informal inspection and evaluation of structures, and contract survey functions
Serve as technical advisor in assigned area of work to supervisor, other design engineers, construction engineers, and operations specialists
Defines and develops the scopes of work for architect-engineer (A-E) contracts and technically reviews surveys, designs, reports, geotechnical analyses, and P&S developed by A-E contractor in areas of responsibility to assure technical adequacy and compliance with objectives of the project
Working under closer than normal supervision at the journeyman level performing assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the full performance grade level

Basic Requirement for the 0810 series. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: working under closer than normal supervision at the journeyman level performing assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the full performance grade level
OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Mathematics, engineering, statistics, or actuarial science
OR Superior Academic Achievement: To be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
GS-09 Grade Level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Experience in performing engineering projects with appropriate level of supervision, analyzing engineering plans and designs for accuracy; Assisting, employees on products that meet required quality and compliance
OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Mathematics, statistics, engineering, or actuarial science
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%

Business travel required 5% of the time
