Research Lab Manager, Infectious Disease, Dr. Pritha Sen Lab
Brigham and Women's Hospital is looking for a Research Laboratory Manager to support ongoing projects in the Sen Laboratory, focusing on translational human immunology studies. The role involves supervising wet-bench operations, coordinating lab activities, and contributing to research methodologies and reporting.

Responsibilities
Supervises and/or implements the wet-bench single-cell and sequencing operations of the lab, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
Oversees supply inventory as it relates to high-dimensional immunophenotyping and sequencing performed in the lab, under supervision of the Principal Investigator
Processing of clinical human blood (i.e. Ficoll for PBMC, centrifugation for plasma and serum isolation) and tissues specimens (i.e. hot and cold digestion and mechanical separation of human tissue biopsies) for single-cell and sequencing workflows from patients with bacterial, viral, and fungal infections under supervision of Principal Investigator
Participates in the design and modification of single-cell, sequencing, and immunophenotyping research protocols
Participates in the maintenance of specialized equipment used for single-cell, sequencing, and immunophenotyping experimental workflows
Develops research methodologies within parameters of experimental protocols and research objectives
With appropriate support, willing to performs data analysis using advanced statistical techniques
Contribute to writing sections of research reports and manuscripts
Responsible for the oversight and coordination of all lab activities, including quality assurance
Responsible for the oversight and coordination of all scheduling of all procedures
Responsible for troubleshooting problems and instructing others in highly specialized techniques
If entry-level's research staff is present, responsible for supervising staff in the lab
In collaboration with Principal Investigator, participates in budget and grant development and preparation
Records data, summarizes, and analyzes results using basic statistics
Prepares laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments, and equipment
Maintains supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures
Attends lab meetings and discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an academic and/or laboratory research setting
At least 1 year of experience in executing emulsion-based single-cell/nuclei library generation and next-generation sequencing workflows
Highly organized, meticulous, and rigorous in the implementation of wet bench experimental protocols
Ability to work independently but be trained in best practices and supervised closely by the Principal Investigator
Ability to perform duties in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures
Ability to conduct a variety of experiments with established methodologies
Participation in the design and modification of research protocols
Contribution to figure generation and methods and results writing for abstracts, research reports, and manuscripts
Coordination of lab activities as it relates to specific experiments
Assistance in general lab management issues
Undertaking quality assurance programs
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
Experience in an academic or laboratory research setting 3-5 years required
Minimum 1 year of experience performing single-cell/nuclei library generation and next-generation sequencing workflows
Ability to make independent decisions
Aptitude for technical problem solving
Ability to effectively supervise others
Excellent Organizational skills
Strong budget and management skills
Excellent judgement and ability to interpret information
Interest in and comfort with working with human clinical specimens
Sound degree of computer literacy with basic programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Willingness to learn Adobe Illustrator, reference managers (i.e. Zotero)
Ability to record and analyze data using basic statistics
Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to demonstrate highest levels of professionalism
Preferred
Specialized training in genomics and or immunology would be considered favorably
