Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day supervision, mentorship, and performance oversight staff, including in-depth review of monthly general ledger activity and account reconciliations across multiple properties
Own and maintain the fixed asset module within the ERP system, including capitalization policies, depreciation schedules, and fixed assets
Lead general ledger accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial records while proactively identifying and implementing process improvements
Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate close in accordance with internal deadlines set by the Controller
Serve as a primary accounting contact for external auditors, coordinating the preparation and delivery of audit support for quarterly reviews and annual audits
Partner with property management to prepare, analyze, and explain monthly budget-to-actual variance analyses, providing actionable insights and recommendations
Support treasury and banking activities, including cash management, account reconciliations, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
Ensure ongoing compliance with GAAP, internal accounting policies, and company controls
Act as a technical resource for real estate accounting matters, supporting cross-functional teams as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5–10 years of progressive real estate accounting experience, with exposure to multi-property portfolios
Prior experience reviewing work and/or supervising junior accounting staff
Hands-on experience with real estate accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, Entrata, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting and real estate-specific accounting concepts
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and multiple properties in a fast-paced environment
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and integrity
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams

Preferred

Experience partnering closely with property management and operations teams
Exposure to real estate development, construction-in-progress, or value-add portfolios
Prior involvement in process improvement, system implementations, or accounting workflow optimization
