Property Agent

The City of San Diego is responsible for managing real property transactions within its Economic Development Department. The Property Agent will handle various tasks including leasing, property management, and financial analysis, ensuring effective management of municipal assets.

Responsibilities

Perform sensitive and challenging real property transactions in the Real Estate and Airports Division of the City’s Economic Development Department
Leasing
Property management
Acquisitions
Dispositions
Lease administration
Project management
Municipal asset services
Special projects
Valuations
Appraisals
Negotiation of relocation and rights-of-way
Asset management
Airport property leasing and development
Property assessments
Property inspections
Reporting
Financial analysis
Training of staff members
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education (i.e., minimum completed units = 120 semester/180 quarter)
Three years of full-time commercial real estate property transactional experience in at least ONE of the following areas: Appraisal/valuation, Acquisitions and dispositions, Relocation and right-of-way, Property and/or asset management, Commercial sales/leasing, Commercial real estate brokerage
A valid California Class C Driver's License is required at the time of hire

Preferred

Commercial Real Estate project management experience
Experience working with public agencies and municipalities, including permitting departments and planning groups/commissions
Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Business, Land Use/Urban Planning, or Economics
Experience in a governmental or public agency, which includes experience in the oversight and evaluation of commercial real estate transactions, land use and development policy, and real estate finance and/or economics
Experience in complex commercial lease negotiations and administration of ground leases
Experience in conducting complex financial analysis and preparing reports
Experience with space planning and leasing of commercial office space
Experience with GIS, mapping, and review of surveys, plats, and legal descriptions
Experience with FAA regulations and how they apply to airport obligated leases and land
Experience working for a Telecommunications provider in site acquisition, leasing, or project management
