Responsibilities
Design, build, and implement data architectures on AWS, including data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and secure
Leverage AWS services like Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis, Athena, EMR, and Lambda to develop end-to-end data solutions
Lead data modeling efforts and work with teams to define and implement data transformation strategies to support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting requirements
Optimize the performance, scalability, and security of the data infrastructure, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery
Work closely with cross-functional teams including data engineers, business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to ensure the design meets both functional and non-functional requirements
Ensure all data solutions comply with regulatory and security standards specific to the banking/financial industry
Maintain documentation for data models, architectural designs, and data processes, and establish best practices for the team
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience in data architecture, with at least 4+ years in AWS cloud environments
Prior experience working in the banking or financial services industry is required, with a strong understanding of industry-specific data regulations and standards
Strong expertise in AWS services, including Redshift, Glue, Athena, Kinesis, S3, and EMR
Hands-on experience with data pipeline development, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and data lake architectures
Knowledge of big data technologies like Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is a plus
Strong proficiency in SQL (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Postgres, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB)
Proficiency in Python, SQL, or other relevant programming languages for data engineering tasks
Knowledge of cloud security, governance, and compliance standards, particularly in a banking context (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS)
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Preferred
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty is a plus
Experience in implementing data governance frameworks and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Experience working in agile development environments, particularly within financial institutions
