Responsibilities
Serve as Dell's neutral technical expert to evaluate and approve Teradata configurations and implementations
Support 6 total Teradata environments (2 production, 2 freeze, 2 development) running on 148 ESXi hosts with 306 VMs
Conduct performance tuning and monitoring using tools like Teradata Viewpoint
Evaluate Teradata architecture decisions and provide recommendations for optimization
Work closely with Teradata teams and third-party administrators to ensure proper implementation
Provide detailed reporting on configuration reviews and performance assessments
Support incident resolution and maintenance activities as needed
Partner with Dell's ESXi administrator and coordinate with stakeholders
Qualification
Required
5+ years of Teradata administration experience in large enterprise environments
Deep expertise in Teradata architecture and configuration management
Proficiency with Teradata Viewpoint for monitoring and performance analysis
Strong performance tuning and optimization skills - this is critical for the role
Experience with VMware ESXi environments and virtual machine administration
US Citizenship required - no exceptions due to client requirements
Flexibility for after-hours work during planned migrations and rollouts
Strong communication skills to work effectively with multiple vendor teams
Ability to work independently in a complex, multi-vendor environment
Preferred
Teradata certification (bonus but not required)
Experience with SQL query optimization and stored procedures
Knowledge of ETL tools (Informatica, Talend)
Linux/Unix system administration experience
Previous experience in aerospace or highly regulated industries
Experience working in environments without proper testing infrastructure
