Thermal Research Engineer Intern
Eaton is a leading company in the engineering sector, currently seeking a Thermal Research Engineer Intern in their Corporate Technology Office division. The role involves supporting research and technology development in power conversion systems, with a focus on innovative cooling solutions and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
As a technical intern, work with electrical and mechanical engineers on the power conversion system designs, support emerging power conversion & power system solutions based on breakthrough cooling technologies for industrial, automotive, truck, and aerospace applications
Participate in technology projects by supporting teams (local and remote resources) and working with external technology resources (Business Divisions, Universities and Customers)
Support advancement of state of the art in the area of power electronics and power conversion system cooling and packaging solutions, including single and 2-phase cooling, micro-channel liquid cooling, hybrid cooling, advanced materials for thermal management etc. as well as supporting the identification of commercialization opportunities with diverse Eaton businesses
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural globally distributed teams, support specific task within the scope of work and provide updates to project manager
Support global technology programs utilizing Eaton’s technology development processes including Business Reviews, and Project Reviews
Support project plans and deliver results on budget and schedule
Support projects with partners from national labs, universities, and other research institutes
Qualification
Required
Graduate student in Mechanical Engineering
1 years of experience
Fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics applicable to power electronics, electromagnetics, power conversion and electric drives
Experience in modeling & simulation of thermal-fluid using thermal networks, FEA, & CFD analysis tools such as Icepak, Fluent, Ansys, Comsol etc
3D CAD modeling software knowledge (Creo, Inventor, Spaceclaim, Solidworks)
Experience in testing or designing liquid cooling solution for power electronics, immersion cooling, material compatibility, BOM, family selection of heat exchangers, pumps, fluid connections, fans, heat sinks
Appreciation for the trade-offs necessary to achieve designs that meet performance requirements and cost objective solutions
Good English communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
Experience presenting value proposition of new technologies
Preferred
PhD student in Mechanical Engineering with special focus in advanced cooling technologies
Experience in all modes of heat transfer (convection, conduction, radiation, phase change) in electric systems
Good understanding of modeling and testing on 2 phase cooling and advance materials
