Hardware Lab Technician
UANDWE, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Lab Technician to oversee lab operations and ensure the maintenance of lab servers and associated equipment. The role involves system bring-up, hardware troubleshooting, and managing hardware configurations while maintaining an organized and safe lab environment.
Responsibilities
System Bring-Up & Maintenance, including Cabling and connectivity, BIOS and firmware validation, OS installation (Linux/Windows as required), replace and upgrade components (PCIe cards, NICs, storage, memory, power supplies)
Track and manage hardware configuration consistency
Perform lab infrastructure and data center set up, such as installing of PDUs, network gear, console servers, network cabling, racking/de-racking of servers
Hardware & Infrastructure Troubleshooting, including being able to diagnose and resolve, hardware failures, power and thermal issues, network connectivity problems
Escalate complex issues with clear documentation and reproduction steps
Maintain accurate asset tracking, labeling, and inventory records, coordinate equipment moves between lab, staging, and data center
Keep lab spaces organized, safe, and audit-ready
Communicate issues clearly and professionally across teams
Support parallel workstreams and shifting priorities as development needs evolve
You may oversee the lab operations which include maintenance of lab servers, lab stock, shipping/receiving, and associated test equipment
Qualification
Required
Experience working in silicon, hardware validation, or system test labs
Experience in configuration, installation, operations maintenance, handling troubleshooting of CPUs, memory, boards, servers, PCIe cards and R&D laboratory equipment
Working knowledge of data center collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, NetBox
Familiarity with Linux command-line environment and working proficiency with Python or Bash scripting for automation
Comfort working with open hardware, test benches, and partially assembled systems
Familiarity with data center best practices (racking, cabling, power, labeling)
Ability to follow procedures while also troubleshooting independently
Strong attention to detail and documentation
Working knowledge of ESD principles and equipment protection
Preferred
Prior work in colocation data centers (e.g. Coresite, Digital Realty, Equinix, etc.)
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform)
Comfortable creating runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation for global teams
