Director of Store Operations
Aboff’s Paints is a family owned and operated business on Long Island for more than 95 years, and they are seeking an experienced Director of Store Operations to lead multi-location retail performance. The role involves ensuring operational excellence and driving sales growth and profitability across the paint store network.
Retail
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations for all store locations from Western Suffolk County to the East End
Ensure stores open/close on time and operate in compliance with company policies
Drive sales growth, profitability, and year-over-year performance
Conduct regular store visits and provide coaching to store managers
Ensure stores are clean, well-stocked, safe, and customer-focused
Minimize shrink and ensure accurate inventory receiving procedures
Recruit, train, develop, and supervise store management and staff
Manage staffing levels, scheduling, timekeeping, and PTO
Serve as primary contact for store employee matters and issue resolution
Participate in compensation discussions and accounts receivable efforts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7-10+ years of multi-unit retail operations leadership experience
Strong understanding of retail financials, labor management, and inventory control
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
Preferred
Experience in paint, coatings, building materials, or specialty retail
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to paint products
Ability to lift 60+ lbs. regularly and move up to 200 lbs. using a hand truck
Ability to stand for extended periods
Speaking, hearing, and vision required
