Responsibilities
Operates switchboard, answers, transfers, and disseminates all incoming calls to appropriate people in a professional and courteous manner and takes messages
Pages individuals over the central paging system as requested and according to hospital policy
Greets, welcomes, and directs individuals entering the Hospital promptly, assuring that all visitors, vendors and other guests are registered in the Hospital Visitor's Log
Provides assistance to patients and employees, such as making change, checking valuables, providing meal tickets, and providing postage as requested
Sorts and delivers incoming mail and sends outgoing mail on a timely basis
Handles facility inquiries and provide general information
Maintains petty cash fund
Performs cash receipt batch write-up including G/L coding
Accepts payments on patient accounts and writes receipts
Notifies facility staff of visitor’s arrival
Maintains security by following established procedures including monitoring guest logbook and issuing visitor badges, if required
Keeps track of inventory and works with supply vendors to ensure a well-stocked office
Copies, files and updates paper and electronic documents
Assists in managing hospital census by discharging and updating patient accounts, when necessary
Performs data entry as assigned
Provides clerical support to other departments, as needed
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent required
