Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the management of the Operations Department's Fire Safety Program and safe execution of work including but not limited to industrial fire prevention and emergency response
You will maintain knowledge of the requirements for implementing industrial fire prevention standards and coordinating integrated emergency response efforts to ensure compliance
You will coordinate the development and deployment of fire response support systems
You will participate in local and NAVSEA Industrial Fire Safety Audits
You will be responsible for coordination, planning, monitoring, execution and evaluation of drills and exercises to assess the level of preparedness and that activities involved in fire response can effectively combat a fire on a naval vessel
You will maintain knowledge of emergency management and fire safety principles
You will coordinate the on-hull and off-hull portions of the exercise scenarios interface
You will be responsible for maintaining training records and qualifications in an auditable manner, records of evaluations, studies, and surveillance results
You will perform precise analysis of collected data, recognize weaknesses in work processes, and formulate/recommend meaningful solutions that results in positive impact and overall improvements
You will formalize response policies and ensure implementation of required standards and lessons learned to integrate casualty response into the Fire Safety training program
You will be responsible for reviewing PHNSY and IMF casualty preparedness and drill program instructions

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
This position requires visual acuity including close hand-eye coordination, color vision, and depth perception
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing emergency situations, assessing fire risks, and implementing safety protocols to manage safety programs or projects, lead emergency exercises and coordinate training and drills with shipyard teams to meet regulations and industry standards
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical safety investigations, fire safety protocol and emergency planning of work operations and coordinating emergency services for the development and review of emergency response plans/fire drill and safety practices to meet regulations and industry standards

Preferred

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
