Human Resources Manager
Saul Ewing LLP is a law firm seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee HR operations. The role involves managing HR initiatives, employee relations, performance management, and benefits administration while ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities
Must understand and apply Federal and State employment laws
Must have advanced, direct knowledge of California state employment law, with direct hands-on experience supporting California offices and California-based employees
Confer with paralegals, attorneys and legal administrative staff on performance concerns and need for additional training
Manage benefits administration, relating to FMLA, medical leave, parental leave and short-term disability, update payroll and communicate with staff/attorneys about policy changes; and facilitate the professional staff performance management process
Generate new hire, departure and change notifications for the firm
Serve as a resource to all managers on professional staff related management issues offering coaching, guidance, and adherence to firm protocols
Administer the firm disciplinary process when necessary
Work with the HR team on a wide variety of national HR initiatives and projects, including, but not limited to: compensation, diversity and inclusion, governance and policy, change management, talent management, performance management, employee morale and HRIS
Work closely with the Benefits Department as needed on the administration of firm benefits
Conduct exit interviews and follow-up new hire interviews, as assigned, for administrative staff
Attend HR department meetings
Work closely with the firm-wide Office Managers in each office to ensure that firm-wide practices and procedures are followed
Works with the HR Assistant on the creation and maintenance of employment records and files to ensure they are kept in an organized and accurate manner
Work closely with the Payroll department on the administration of payroll related items including timecards and answering timekeeping questions
Work with HR Director on Firm attorney/staffing policies
Improve employee retention and motivate staff
Create and maintain professional staff job descriptions
Field complaints from attorneys/staff and use a structured system to respond to any issues within the Firm; and handle/manage other miscellaneous HR related matters, as needed
Participate in the creation, facilitation, and enforcement of firm policy
Demonstrates teamwork, creativity, a desire for continuous improvement, and commitment to the profession
Commitment to providing superior customer service
Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the firm
Thorough organizational skills for prioritizing workload and recruiting efforts
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, and deal with demanding deadlines; strong attention to detail and team-oriented attitude

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related area; combination of relevant experience and education may be substituted
Minimum of 5 years' previous HR experience with a preference for candidates from a law firm or professional services setting or a combination of experience and education
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
Experience with the human resources information system (HRIS) used by the Firm
Working knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management, hiring and employee relations; able to apply these strategies and practices in compliance with employment regulations; and able to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork
Must be comfortable interacting with leadership and individuals at any level within the firm
Preferred
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification strongly desired
Dayforce experience is a plus
