Lab Manager
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The role involves managing laboratory inventory, equipment, and budget functions, as well as collaborating on routine projects and procedures in a pediatric oncology lab.

Responsibilities
Manages daily laboratory operations of a division, department, function, or program, including conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control
Develops routine projects and procedures. Researches and evaluates new products and equipment; orders and repairs specialized and routine equipment as needed
Maintains and adapts scientific equipment for experimental needs of the department. Troubleshoots, installs, and adapts electronic devices and other samples for research investigations
Confers with researchers and faculty concerning research needs and methods
Prepares budget requests and manages approved budget
Prepares and analyzes data; keeps accurate and timely data logbooks
Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations for waste disposal; acts as department safety officer
Position will be in Pediatric Oncology Lab working with graduate students, post-docs, and staff scientists
Assists with experiments, orders/maintains laboratory reagents, and manages model organism research colony
Experimental duties include flow cytometry, tissue culture, PCR, and protein analysis
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
3 years of relevant experience
PA Child Abuse History Clearance
PA State Police Criminal Record Check
FBI Criminal Record Check
Current TB test
Ability to manage daily laboratory operations
Experience in quality assurance and quality control
Ability to develop routine projects and procedures
Experience in researching and evaluating new products and equipment
Ability to maintain and adapt scientific equipment
Experience in troubleshooting, installing, and adapting electronic devices
Ability to confer with researchers and faculty
Experience in preparing budget requests and managing budgets
Ability to prepare and analyze data
Experience in ensuring compliance with regulations for waste disposal
Ability to assist with experiments and manage laboratory reagents
Experience with flow cytometry, tissue culture, PCR, and protein analysis
Flexibility with shift/hours, including evenings and weekends
