Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Java microservices and SAP Commerce 2205 components (web, OCC APIs, backoffice, search) using Azure DevOps or equivalent tools
Containerize and deploy SAP Commerce 2205 and supporting Java services to Azure (AKS and/or App Services), using Terraform (and optionally Helm) as infrastructure‑as‑code
Collaborate with Java and Hybris engineers to optimize JVM, container sizing, and autoscaling for performance, resilience, and cloud cost efficiency
Implement and maintain observability (logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerts) for commerce workloads, enabling fast incident detection and root‑cause analysis
Apply FinOps practices in daily work: enforce tagging standards, review cost reports, and proactively identify waste (idle services, over‑provisioned nodes, unused environments)
Support zero‑/low‑downtime deployment strategies (blue/green, canary) for customer‑facing commerce releases
Participate in on‑call rotation for critical commerce services, driving incident resolution and post‑incident improvements
Contribute to the roadmap for modernizing SAP Commerce 2205 towards newer SAP Commerce Cloud releases or adjacent composable services
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in software engineering or DevOps, with strong exposure to Java‑based platforms, ideally including SAP Commerce / Hybris or similar Java eCommerce / transactional systems
Hands‑on with CI/CD pipelines for Java (Maven/Gradle, test automation, artifact management, environment promotion) using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar
Practical experience running Java workloads on Azure (AKS and/or App Services), including configuration, secrets, environment management, and basic networking
Solid Terraform skills for provisioning app‑adjacent cloud resources (AKS, App Services, storage, networking for services) and managing them via Git workflows
Familiarity with SAP Commerce 2205 runtime characteristics (Java 17, OCC APIs, search, backoffice) or demonstrated ability to quickly ramp up on Hybris‑specific tooling and extensions
Strong understanding of monitoring and alerting concepts, and experience with at least one observability stack (Azure Monitor, Prometheus/Grafana, New Relic, etc.)
Comfortable working closely with developers, product, and business stakeholders in an agile environment, with a bias toward automation and self‑service
Understands key cloud cost drivers (compute, storage, bandwidth, managed services) and how Java/Hybris workloads influence them
Experience using Azure Cost Management or similar tools to view, segment, and track spend by application, environment, and team
Applies and enforces tagging and cost allocation standards in Terraform and deployment pipelines
Familiar with core FinOps concepts (Inform / Optimize / Operate) and able to incorporate cost checkpoints into design and deployment decisions
Preferred
Prior experience with SAP Commerce Cloud / Hybris development, configuration, or operations (extensions, OCC, backoffice customization)
Exposure to headless / composable commerce (OCC APIs, Spartacus or other frontends consuming SAP Commerce)
Experience supporting migrations from SAP Commerce 2205 to later SAP Commerce Cloud releases or alternative commerce platforms
FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or equivalent training
