Lead Intake Analyst

The Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC) is a nonprofit organization focused on leveraging data to enhance health care for Coloradans. The Lead Intake Analyst will guide the Intake team and manage data quality issues related to health care claims data, ensuring high-quality information in the CO APCD data warehouse.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and feedback to Intake analysts, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing environment
Communicate with payers through all aspects of the data intake and QC processes. Act as the primary point of contact for escalated data quality issues
Communicate with data management vendor to coordinate payer communications and related data intake issues
Review intake QC reports to identify and work with payers to correct data submission issues
Manage the data submission exemption waiver process
Perform ad-hoc data QA and analyses as necessary
Manage annual Data Submission Guide and rule change process
Manage updates of Annual File submission manuals as appropriate
Supports recruiting, training, and supervising assigned Data Quality & Intake team members
Oversees the daily workflow of the Intake process and assigned Data Quality & Intake team members
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
Supports professional development and technical training
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Experience in a hospital or managed care environment with a focus on claims data, analysis, provider contracting, or decision support, especially in cost and utilization analysis
Experience analyzing commercial, Medicare, and/or Medicaid claims
A working knowledge of industry coding (revenue codes, ICD classifications, CPT codes, etc.)
A working knowledge of healthcare industry terms such as HL7, PHI, HIPAA, HITECH, etc
Knowledge of SQL. SAS or NoSQL programming experience a plus
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times, stressful environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Creative, tenacious, and diligent
Strong Internet research capabilities
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Informatics, or related fields. Five years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
4+ years of health care claims experience
Experience in a Lead/Supervisory capacity
Experience interpreting data models, data dictionaries, and queries
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience communicating and presenting to diverse audiences, potentially including executives and state officials
SQL experience and technical skill writing queries
Profiling large, complex data sets
