Assistant Vice President, Procurement (Direct & Indirect Spend) – Apparel, Textiles, Operations – $1B Spend
RECSCI is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Procurement to lead enterprise procurement strategy across all direct spend and most indirect spend for a large, multi-site apparel business. This role serves as the senior strategic leader of the Procurement function, partnering closely with executive leadership and business unit heads to advance procurement’s objectives and elevate Procurement as a trusted internal partner.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary change agent for Procurement, driving enterprise-wide adoption of strategic procurement practices
Elevate Procurement’s strategic position by advocating for priorities and initiatives with senior leadership
Break down barriers, resolve cross-functional friction, and address organizational conflicts that hinder execution
Establish and communicate the strategic vision, goals, and objectives of the Procurement organization
Partner with senior functional leaders to ensure Procurement strategy aligns with business strategy, financial targets, and operational priorities
Communicate procurement priorities, goals, risks, challenges, and results to executive stakeholders with clarity and impact
Develop and deliver executive-ready presentations and business cases
Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership, business unit stakeholders, and strategic supplier partners
Engage senior stakeholders to build relationship equity and ensure Procurement is sought out as a high-value internal partner
Identify, champion, and implement continuous improvement in procurement processes, procedures, systems, and governance
Focus the organization on the highest-value sourcing and category opportunities and deliver measurable outcomes
Deliver 3%+ annualized savings on spend under management (or equivalent performance target)
Build and lead a best-in-class Procurement organization through hiring, coaching, performance management, development, and succession planning
Maintain continuous learning and workforce readiness by aligning resource plans to business objectives and staying current with industry benchmarks and best practices
Drive execution across multiple workstreams by translating strategy into actionable plans, forecasting needs, securing cross-functional support, allocating resources, setting standards, measuring progress, and removing obstacles
Develop contingency plans and guide teams through changing market conditions and business priorities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
12+ years of experience in Procurement, Operations, Finance, or a related discipline
5+ years of people leadership experience with direct report responsibility
3+ years of experience in budgeting and strategic planning
3+ years of international sourcing experience
Advanced contract negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to drive favorable commercial outcomes
Proven experience leading organizational change and scaling procurement capabilities
Demonstrated ability to identify and onboard new suppliers, including international suppliers
Ability to use commodity indices to develop 'should-cost' models that strengthen negotiations
Experience creating playbooks to manage cost changes in response to market conditions
Ability to design systems for advanced preparation for complex contract negotiations
Strong proficiency in MS Office, with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel (including pivot tables)
Preferred
MBA or other relevant master's degree
10+ years of experience in strategic procurement or related roles
5+ years of experience operating within a large, complex corporate environment
Prior experience transforming or modernizing a Procurement organization (process, governance, operating model, and talent)
Experience using Oracle or another ERP system in a procurement environment
