Seasonal Conservation Easement Stewardship Monitor

Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is seeking to hire Seasonal Conservation Easement Stewardship Monitors to manage and oversee conservation easement properties. The role involves site visits, building relationships with landowners, and ensuring compliance with conservation easement terms while utilizing tools such as ArcGIS Pro for reporting and mapping.

Responsibilities

Prepares and maintains monitoring files and their contents, including conservation easement documents, maps, ownership data, and other documents important to property uses; updates and maintains current data in Stewardship Database for all conservation easements monitored
Contacts landowners to conduct routine monitoring site visits to their properties as assigned to check for compliance with conservation easement terms
Meets with landowners on their properties, builds positive working relationships with them, and helps them to understand the terms of their conservation easement
Identifies noxious weeds, other natural resource concerns and opportunities for improving conservation values and shares the information with landowners
Connects landowners with resources to best manage the conservation values on their property and provides them with requested information
Identifies and researches potential violations of conservation easements or other issues and works with Conservation Easement Program Supervisor and landowner to resolve them
Prepares monitoring reports based on findings from monitoring site visit and inputs and upkeeps Stewardship Database with site visit findings
Uses ArcGIS Pro for making maps, smartphone applications for collecting data and navigating in the field, and other computer software as necessary to conduct job duties
Performs related work, as required
May be reassigned during emergency situations

Required

A high school diploma or equivalent
Applicants must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation

Preferred

Experience or interest in land conservation, natural resource field work, and/or real estate transactions and research
Working knowledge of ArcGIS for map making, and smart phones for collecting data in the field
Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills
Ability to learn to comprehend legal documents
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others as a team, agencies and the public
Problem-solver, sound judgment, analytical and critical thinker
Ability to work independently with self-motivation to complete projects in a timely manner
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Ability to drive county vehicle to assigned site visits and occasionally hike independently over uneven terrain in remote environments, sometimes in inclement weather and for long periods, while carrying up to 30 pounds
Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer and office equipment, smart phone, and motor vehicle
Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with colleagues, landowners and members of the public
