Director, Enterprise Architecture

Responsibilities
Manage a team of solution architects and governance professionals, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance management. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to attract and retain top talent
Ensure designing end-to-end technology solutions, including translating business requirements into technical architectures that are feasible, cost-effective, and sustainable
Develop and maintain the enterprise IT architecture strategy and roadmap. Align IT strategy with organizational and business strategies, including modernization, compliance, and resilience initiatives. Provide guidance for technology planning, system upgrades, and compliance-driven decisions
Lead the design and documentation of enterprise-wide solutions including applications, infrastructure, and cloud components. Develop and enforce technology standards, reference models, and integration frameworks to ensure scalability and alignment across divisions
Manage the Council’s IT estate, ensuring compliance, lifecycle visibility, and modernization of legacy systems. Collaborate with technology stakeholders to regularly assess systems against enterprise risk, sustainability, and regulatory standards
Collaborate with senior leaders to align architecture with strategic needs and to communicate complex technical topics in accessible terms. Partner with CISO and Chief Business Technology Officer for risk, security, and procurement alignment
Monitor system reliability and architecture performance across applications and platforms. Oversee upgrades and maintenance efforts and ensure documentation supports compliance audits and operational continuity
Evaluate emerging technologies to support innovation and service modernization. Lead proof-of-concept efforts and technology pilots. Participate in strategic forums like the AI Working Group
Manage architectural and compliance-related vendor relationships. Ensure vendor solutions meet internal architecture and regulatory standards. Coordinate with ISBO for strategic procurement
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED and 12 years of experience, including 5 years in a supervisory or management role
Associate's degree and 10 years of experience, including 5 years in a supervisory or management role
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience, including 5 years in a supervisory or management role
Master's degree and 6 years of experience, including 5 years in a supervisory or management role
Preferred
Experience with enterprise architecture (TOGAF, Zachman) and IT governance frameworks (COBIT, ISO 27001)
Regulatory compliance experience (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ADA)
Knowledge of T systems, platforms, and integration practices
Advanced knowledge of architecture design, governance, and IT compliance
Experience leading governance and compliance initiatives
Experience designing system architecture to support enterprise scalability
Experience conducting risk assessments and managing audit processes
Skills in facilitating cross-functional collaboration and architectural review boards
Experience managing teams across diverse organizational levels and Information Technology needs
