Responsibilities
Works independently and with approved vendors and other state agencies to resolve network-related issues
Creates and updates documentation related to current network architecture and new installations
Possesses functional knowledge of connecting public and private networks without compromising network stability
Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of PCI/PII requirements
Plans and implements future installations of network equipment and conducts capacity planning
Performs high-level analysis and troubleshooting of network infrastructure
Provides technical expertise, direction, and leadership to other team members
Conducts research and analysis on all requests related to problem resolution
Performs other related duties as requested by the supervisor
Travels between facilities to maintain and deploy networking equipment
Qualification
Required
Holds Fortinet certifications (NSE, FCF, FCA, FCP, or FCSS)
Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex networks
Knowledge of key routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP)
Familiarity with VLANs, VTP, and STP
Experience with ACLs, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, enterprise wireless, and related security technologies
Strong understanding of routers and switches
Experience with Metro-Ethernet technologies
Proficient with network monitoring and management tools
Experience with VoIP and QoS
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Adaptable to changing priorities, emergencies, or production needs
Basic understanding of statistical methods
Extensive experience creating and updating network Visio diagrams
