General Records & Reports - Assist with work in accordance with eMax and Reliability & Integrity protocol or other computerized maintenance programs. Operate computer systems and related hardware necessary to locate assigned work and complete work in eMax or other computerized maintenance systems. Prepare prescribed records and reports relating to equipment and work performed, including but not limited to time reporting and expense reporting
Communication Skills - Operate truck mounted two-way radio equipment, cellular phones, pagers, fax machines, computers, and other devices used for communication purposes. Interface with customers while performing both regulated and non-regulated work. Interface with employees in other departments as well as employees within your department
Safety & OSHA - Maintain work equipment and work area in a clean, orderly condition. Continuously observe Company's safety/security rules and practices, check condition of safety equipment, attend scheduled safety meetings, participate in artificial respiration practice and confined space training as required. Perform all work in accordance with OSHA and Company safety/security policies. Be familiar with all safety/security rules, policies, and practices as they relate to your work
Operating Equipment - Under direct supervision, participate in, assist or perform numerous related operations such as operating an aerial lift or line truck, and checking condition of work equipment. Operate various machine-shop equipment. Assist in the performance of numerous related operations involved in substation maintenance utilizing the following equipment: phasing sticks, amp meters, DLRO, oil dielectric testers, Ohm resistance meggers, infrared equipment, SF6 leak detecting equipment, AC Hi-pot, multi-meters, voltage detectors, TCG testers, oxygen monitoring equipment, power factor testing equipment, "ITR testers, cable fault locators, DC Hi-pot, hot stick testers, personal ground testers, breakers analyzers/timers, SF6 gas analyzers (Dewpoint), generator test sets, and other equipment as assigned
General Work — Assist as required, in testing electrical insulation integrity of substation electrical apparatus, observing indications or evidence of defects or failures, testing and checking circuit continuities, reporting the findings and proceeding with correcting observed defects or failures or referring to others for correction
Participate in emergency operations such as moving and connecting portable substation operating switches as instructed
Make insulation tests on various kinds of electrical equipment such as transformers, bushings, insulators, potential devices, cables, and other miscellaneous materials and devices using the Doble or other types of insulation test sets, measuring and determining the quality of insulation, preparing, analyzing, and reporting on results. Perform analysis of circuit breakers using Doble motion analyzers or equivalent equipment
Engage in testing for determining the condition of substation grounding systems
Perform infrared inspections of substations and other assigned electrical equipment. Interpret the findings of the inspections and make recommendations as to the severity of the defects. Create reports on defects found, and create work orders for follow-up work required for repairs
Assist in performing electrical tests such as those for determining ratio, polarity, core loss and heating of transformers, dielectric absorption of cables, dielectric absorption of generators, dielectric strength of insulating oils, also those for high voltage withstanding determinations and other similar testing, much of which involves the application of engineering techniques. Perform related testing such as determining neutralization number and interfacial tension of insulating oil, mechanical tests of strength of various materials and equipment parts and other similar mechanical tests, and keep well informed on the latest development on equipment testing techniques
