Responsibilities

Analyzing complex legal and factual issues
Conducting extensive research
Developing well-reasoned legal strategies
Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
Preparing complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, petitions for reconsideration, and trial briefs
Collaboration with Claims Partners
Providing timely and effective communication, legal advice, and support to clients
Maintaining professional diplomacy in interactions with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel
Facilitating the prompt and efficient resolution of cases
Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence in trials, hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
Researching, drafting, filing, and arguing appellate briefs in reviewing courts
Participation in team huddles
Conducting in-house training for junior associates and claims partners
Engaging in claims file reviews
Attending continuing legal education seminars

Qualification

Workers' Compensation experienceJD from accredited law schoolTrial experienceLegal research skillsLegal writing skillsMS Office proficiencyComputer skillsLexis Nexis experiencePositive team-player attitudeOrganizational skills

Required

Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience handling complex Workers' Compensation cases
JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of California
Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude
Strong legal research and writing skills
Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required
Minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience handling complex/life pension Workers' Compensation cases

Preferred

Trial experience is preferred
Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
