Responsibilities
Designing and implementing learning strategies for students in the Histotechnology (HTO) Program
Developing course syllabi and instructional materials
Maintaining instructional records
Student recruitment, advisement, and retention
Developing and evaluating courses, programs and services
Participating in College activities and committees
Performing assigned tasks that support the mission and initiatives of the College
Teaching the course content to align with the course and program level outcomes
Fostering the classroom environment in a way that maintains respect for diversity among students
Ensuring that teaching strategies include active student engagement, timely and consistent feedback, and accurate up-to-date record keeping
Actively participating in completion initiatives
Participating in the evaluation of courses and programs
Participating in discussions relevant to choosing textbooks and other instructional materials
Identifying and providing supporting resources through innovative use of the learning environment and collaboration with support services on campus
Obtaining and accurately reporting data needed to assess the College’s efficacy in teaching and learning
Engaging collaboratively with colleagues in assessing relevant course and program data
Determining how courses and programs can be improved
Implementing and evaluating resulting changes
Participating in activities necessary to attain and maintain program accreditation from NAACLS
Soliciting support from advisory committee in order to implement change for program improvement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Histotechnology or related field from an accredited institution
Minimum of three years of full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical practice as an HT or HTL preferred or ASCP BOC Certified CT, MLS or MLT
Minimum of three years of experience in medical or laboratory education
Holds ASCP-BOC U.S. certification as a HT or HTL, CT, MLS or MLT
Skill in the use of computers and commitment to using technology
Experience with MS Office 2010
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively and collegially with others
