Project Construction Specialist
Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is a civil infrastructure professional services firm seeking a Project Construction Specialist to join their Surface Transportation team in Peoria, IL. The role involves on-site construction inspection, documentation, and serving as a liaison between the contractor and client, while also assisting in planning and design of civil and transportation projects.

Responsibilities
Perform and lead on-site construction inspection, observation, and documentation services including supervising and directing junior staff in support of project managers
Serve as the engineer’s on-site liaison with the contractor and client and assist the client when required for proper execution of the work
Prepare, maintain, and distribute required construction documentation including daily reports, pay estimates, change orders, shop drawings, material submittals, progress schedules, project correspondence, testing results, and record drawings in accordance with client and company procedures
Secondary assignments may include assistance with planning and design of civil & transportation projects including drafting, field surveying, materials testing, or other duties as assigned
Typical projects require the understanding and implementation of construction documents (plans & specifications) including horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, asphalt & concrete paving, pavement marking, signage, erosion control, coordination with other disciplines, water & sanitary utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction scheduling
Qualification
Required
High School diploma/GED plus equivalent field work experience required
8 plus years of experience in Construction or related field required
IDOT certification, or ability to complete certification, is required
Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
Possess general knowledge and understanding of the construction of transportation, site development, and civil infrastructure projects including the ability to clarify and interpret construction documents
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Strong ability to manage personnel and delegate tasks
Strong to work independently and able to effectively manage time and work on multiple projects
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Must be willing to accept out of town travel assignments and work overtime to meet construction project demands
Must have valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record with access to transportation
Must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Successful completion of a security background check which requires employment history, verification and criminal history records checks (if applicable) of individuals applying for security badges
Demonstrated responsiveness, professionalism, and teamwork
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is desired; Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
