Physical Science Technician (Field Assistant)
The U.S. Geological Survey is seeking a Physical Science Technician (Field Assistant) to support the Volcano Science Center. The role involves conducting field examinations, performing laboratory analyses, and maintaining scientific equipment while working in physically demanding outdoor environments.

Responsibilities
Schedules and conducts a wide variety of field examinations, field surveys, and inventories in support of scientists
Performs field work and/or laboratory analysis of collected samples
Makes slight modifications to procedures to accommodate different types of samples based on knowledge and/or training
Installs, operates, and maintains complex sampling, monitoring, and/or laboratory equipment and instruments
Operate a government motor vehicle or boats as an incidental driver
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens
Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation
Selectee must provide a valid state driver's license & safe driving record
Selectee subject to successful completion of a pre-employment medical exam
Housing will not be provided
Possess 2 year 9 months of field survey party experience
OR possess 5 years sub-professional experience
OR possess 5 years college study (with 18 hours of graduate level course work or equivalent) plus 3 months of lab or field work experience
