Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to Irrigators, Irrigation Companies, Water Conservancy Districts, and Local Conservation Districts, to plan and implement water optimization projects
Perform outreach and educational activities on state and federal water conservation programs
Build relationships with landowners, partners, other agencies and groups to promote water optimization and conservation
Inspect water optimization projects before, during and after project implementation
Monitor water optimization projects
Gather water optimization data and create required reports

Required

Full understanding and experience of the conservation planning process
Working knowledge of irrigation methods and practices
Working knowledge of water quality rules and regulations
Working knowledge of water rights rules and regulations
Good verbal and communication skills and the ability to build trust with producers and landowners
Proficient in Excel, word, and GIS programs
Background in agriculture
Valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA 53-3-202(1)(a)

Preferred

Preference may be given to local candidates with planning experience
Best qualified individuals for this job will have knowledge and skills related to Agronomy, Soil Science, Botany, Horticulture, Agricultural Education, Agricultural Engineering, or other natural resource management skills and abilities
