The External Affairs Intern assists with MSE’s philanthropic, civic impact, and government relations efforts, helping with events and programs coordinated through the MSE Foundation and District of Play.

Responsibilities
Support daily operations, projects, and activations organized by the External Affairs team
Assist in the planning and carrying out of community and grassroots events
Prepare event supplies and grassroots materials in advance of activations
Coordinate with marketing teams from the Wizards, Capitals, Mystics, and Venues on grassroots initiatives, including event setup and breakdown as needed
Support hosting External Affairs guests at Capital One Arena, providing wayfinding assistance and ensuring a 5-star guest experience
Assist with coordinating and maintaining the department’s digital inventory
Use Adobe Creative Suite to build digital content and event assets
Support the MSE Foundation’s social media presence and generation of content ideas
Assist with updates to the MSE Foundation and District of Play websites
Collect and coordinate impact data related to the MSE Foundation and District of Play
Propose new insights for civic engagement and collaborator impact strategies
Other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Related internship experience or coursework in public relations, journalism, communications, or sports management
Excellent writing skills and demonstrated ability to produce long or short form content
Understanding of media relations and social media
Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and complete in a timely manner
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills, organizational skills, critical thinking and general digital literacy
Basic proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Knowledge of the sports business industry, including current issues and relevant trends
Understanding of MSE's overall branding and messaging goals
